IV. WHEELCHAIR USE & CONFIGURATION
T. Tilt Mechanism (Continued)
Using the Foot Operated Tilt
1. Tilting the Seat Frame
a. Depress the foot pedal (Fig. 32:A).
b. Tilt the seat frame to the desired position while keeping the pedal depressed.
c. Release the pedal to lock into place.
2. Adjusting the Cables
a. Use two 10mm wrenches to loosen the jam nut (Fig. 32:B) while holding the adjuster (Fig.
32:C) in place. Repeat on the opposite cable.
b. Adjust the cable by turning the adjusters until the desired tension is obtained. Ensure the
actuators on the mech locks are not being actuated while the pedal is released and the
mech locks slide freely when the pedal is depressed.
c. Once the desired tension is obtained and tested to be functioning properly, hold the
adjusters in place with the wrench and tighten the jam nut. Repeat on the opposite cable.
Using the Tilt Stops
1. Remove the screws from the tilt stops and install onto the shaft of the mech lock. Reinstall
the screws, but do not tighten (Fig. 33:A). Repeat for opposite mech lock.
2. Set the chair to the desired angle that the tilt would like to be limited to.
3. For limiting rearward tilt, slide the tilt stop to the bottom of the mech lock body and tighten
into the place. For limiting forward tilt, the tilt stops may be placed above the body of the
mech lock (Fig. 33:B). When the desired angle is achieved, slide the tilt stop against the top
of the mech lock body and tighten.
5. Ensure both of the tilt stops are against their respective mech locks simultaneously.
