1) Piston: fi t the piston paying attention that the arrow engraved on
the upper end of the same is facing the exhaust.
After lubricating the gudgeon pin, insert it in the piston pushing it
inside with your hand.
Then fi t the gudgeon pin circlips after protecting the crankcase
opening with a clean cloth to prevent any circlip from accidentally
entering it; thoroughly check that the circlips are securely placed
in their seats.
2) Cylinder: fi t the cylinder base gasket, insert the cylinder in its seat
paying attention not to damage the piston.
With the cylinder on the crankcase rotate the crankshaft allowing
the piston to slide into the cylinder.
Check for a side "clearance" of the piston movement in the cylinder;
this is to indicate that the connecting rod is not damaged.
3) Piston ring assembly: extract the cylinder that you have temporarily
installed, fi t the piston ring in the piston groove. Pay the utmost care
that the end of the piston ring matches with the specifi c circlip. The
piston ring is made in special alloy with high resistance to wear and
load.
4) Cylinder assembly: lubricate the inner side of the cylinder evenly,
then gently insert it in the piston.
5) Head: if there is a temperature reader of the original head, it is
necessary to fi t a special brass adapter where the reader will be
screwed on. If this is not the case, fi t the brass plug.
Position the O-rings in the relevant seats with utmost care using
grease to lock them. Fit the head, tighten the nuts following a gradual
and cross pattern.
Tightening torque: 12±1 Nm (approx 1.2±0.1 kgm).
6) Manifolds: when the semi-automatic clamps of the manifolds of
the cooling system are removed, they can probably no longer be
used. For this reason, you will fi nd no. 3 screw clamps in the kit
that will allow you to refi t everything in the best possible manner.
7) Coolant: after fi lling the system with the liquid, start the engine for
one minute, then top-up to remove any air bubbles along the circuit.
8) Intake: check that the reed valve is in perfect working
conditions. In any case, we recommend replacing it with a
TOP PERFORMANCES valve with carbon fi bre petals to solve
any reliability problem arising from the increased performance of
the engine.
