POST-INSTALLATION ADJUSTMENTS
DRIVE ADJUSTMENT
©Bruno Independent Living Aids, Inc.
Even though each SRE-3000 is run on a test
rail prior to shipment, there may be slight
variations between the test rail and rail installed
on site. These variations may result in a small
but objectionable vibration of the carriage.
Adjust rack and pinion gear to eliminate
vibration.
1. Make sure rack is properly greased.
Inspect both gear rack and pinion for
contaminants.
2. Remove seat and footrest assemblies.
3. With carriage installed on rail, and jumpers
installed on carriage, run unit (loaded and
unloaded) up and down rail over a few feet.
Listen and watch for vibration.
a. If unit vibrates only in down direction,
carriage and rail are fitted too loosely. The
gear must be seated further into rack mesh.
b. If unit vibrates when running up and
down, carriage and rail are fitted too tightly.
The gear must be seated further out from
rack mesh.
4. In both cases, loosen (but DO NOT REMOVE)
three (3) drive mounting bolts (Fig. 1) 1-2
turns using 5mm and 6 mm Allen wrenches.
5. Tighten jack screw 1/8th turn (Fig. 2).

6. Run carriage on rail about 3' (1 m) in each
direction with bolts still loose. This allows
pinion gear to find the natural center of the
gear rack.
• If carriage runs smoothly, retighten drive
• If carriage does not run smoothly, repeat
7. Making sure drive does not move as you
jack
tighten, retighten three (3) drive mounting
