Using the IPM-400 to Read (cont'd)
Measure RTD Sensors
Display: RTD Type: Pt, Ni, Cu, °F, °C
This function reads an RTD. Three wires must be used for both two- and three-wire RTDs.
1.
Turn the Selector knob to RTD.
2.
Connect the black and red leads to the meter as shown.
3.
Press the DISPLAY/SOURCE/READ button until "READ" and any RTD type appear. If the
incorrect RTD type is displayed, follow the procedure below.
4.
Disconnect the RTD from the instrument.
5.
Connect to the RTD using three wires.
6.
Use the toggle switch to view the maximum and minimum values.
Note. Spade lugs are recommended to minimize any contact resistance.
To change the RTD type:
1.
Press the TYPE/ENG UNITS button. The "SELECT RTD TYPE" menu appears.
2.
Turn the digital pot to change the type.
3.
Press the STORE/RESET button or wait 5 seconds to store the selection and to return to
normal operation.
