The System Hands – voluntary opening – belong to the cable-activated
prostheses. They are opened by pulling the cable (active) and close under
spring tension. In closed position the hands lock automatically.
The System Hands carry out the three-finger grip with index and middle
fingers as well as thumb.
To ensure a good pattern of opening or closing movements of the whole
hand, the ring and little fingers are connected with the middle finger through
the inner hand.
The grip force can be changed by adjusting the coil spring. In this case
the System Hand should be sent to Ottobock Service.

The System Hands are to be mounted to an Ottobock wrist unit.
For long below elbow and through-wrist residual limbs, the chassis with
threaded stud should be replaced by the chassis with 9E94=* Lamination
Ring as follows:
9S96=40
for hand size L/R 6 ¾
9S184=*
for hand sizes L/R 7 ¼, L/R 7 ¾ and L/R 8
The components are attached with the 506G4=* Set Screw (Fig. 1).
The 640F18 Donnig Spray facilitates the application of the inner hand on
the System Hand. Das Anziehspray 640F18 erleichtert das Aufziehen der
Innenhand auf die Systemhand.
To avoid damaging, use the 711M1 Hand Holding Tool for holding the Sys-
tem Hand while pulling on the glove. The 711M2 Mounting Plate is used
for attaching the Hand Holding Tool to a workbench (Fig. 2).
