The device is not resistant to fl ooding and is designed for indoor use. Do not
expose the device to water, precipitation or other liquids.
Check the product's rating label for important information. If the label is missing
or is illegible, ask the manufacturer for a replacement.
Avoid contact with all hot engine parts, otherwise you could get burned.
Avoid causing accidental fi res or explosions. Do not smoke and do not keep open
fi re sources near fuel, engine and battery.
Working in the vicinity of lead-acid batteries can be dangerous as they produce
potentially explosive gases. Read and follow the instructions manual supplied
with the battery to minimise the risk.
Avoid contact with the electrolyte, which is a highly corrosive sulphuric acid that
will cause burns in the event of contact with the body.
The place of battery testing must be well ventilated.
The warnings, precautions and instructions described above may not cover all
possible conditions and situations which may occur. The operators must under-
stand that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into the
equipment, but they must provide them themselves.
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
Before starting work, check the documentation supplied with the battery or con-
tact the battery manufacturer to get information about the following parameters
that should be then entered into the tester during the test procedure.
Type of battery to be tested: lead-acid (so-called wet), VRLA or AGM.
CCA (Cold Cranking Amperes) value - cold cranking amperes.
Cranking amperes standard: EN – European standard, SAE – American stand-
ard, DIN – German standard, IEC – International Electrotechnical Commission
standard, CA (MCA) – cranking amperes.
Check the polarity of battery terminals. A red cable usually connects the starter to
the positive (+) pole of the battery and a black cable connects the car body to the
negative (-) pole of the battery. If in doubt, refer to the documentation supplied
with the car or battery, or contact the battery or car manufacturer.
Make sure the battery terminals are clean, free of patina and other contaminants.
If necessary, clean them with a wire brush.
TEST PROCEDURE
The test procedure can be carried out for both the battery installed in the car and
the removed battery.
Caution! When testing a battery installed in the car, turn the ignition off and make
sure that all loads are disconnected. Close all car doors and boot lid.
Connect the red tester clamp marked with "+" with positive battery terminal.
Connect the black tester clamp marked with "-" with negative battery terminal
or element of the car body to which the negative battery terminal is connected if
testing the battery installed in the car. The tester screen illuminates and displays
the main menu. Use the up, down arrows to navigate through the device's men-
us, the ENTER button to confi rm or the return button to go back to the previous
menu.
