6.2
Commissioning the gas detector
1. To prevent false alarms, turn off the alarm activation for
the gas detector (see "Turning the alarms on and off",
page 30).
2. Switch on the power supply.
 The device performs a start-up sequence (LCD/LED
test, software version, and initialization).
 The display indicates that the sensor will be ready for
measurement in hh:mm:ss (countdown). The device
transmits the maintenance signal. The fault relay is
activated.
 The sensor warms up. The maintenance signal on the
4 to 20 mA interface remains until the sensor has
warmed up. The length of the warm-up time depends
on the type of sensor and the ambient conditions.
Maximum warm-up time of a new sensor: See the
instructions for use of the sensor.
3. Check the date and time. Settings can be changed during
the sensor's warm-up time.
 After the sensor's warm-up time, the device switches
to normal operation. The display shows the current gas
concentration, the unit of measurement, and the
selected gas if applicable. The green LED is lit.
If the device is operated with a Dräger SensorAlive,
Dräger recommends setting the correct date and time.
The sensor's warm-up time is followed by the start-up
period of the Dräger SensorAlive. The sensor is ready for
measurement during this phase, but the self diagnostics
do not yet take place.
4. Adjust the device as necessary.
5. Turn on the alarm activation for the gas detector (see
"Turning the alarms on and off", page 30).

Operation
7.1
Control panel
The control panel contains
– buttons for navigating in the menu
– a display
– LEDs and associated symbols
The buttons for navigation have different functions depending
on the menu that is in use.
The instrument is operated with a magnetic wand. To do so,
the enclosure lid must be in place on the instrument. If the
enclosure lid is not in place, the magnetic wand may activate
two or more buttons at once (cross-talk).

operation is active. Analog inter-
face is set to a fixed value and is not trans-
mitting any measurement signal.
Once the capacity of the data logger is
reached, the old data are overwritten by
new values ("roll" function).
