Feature description
The Polytron 8000 family includes the following instrument
versions:
– Polytron 8100 EC, operates with electrochemical sensors
(EC sensors)
– Polytron 8200 CAT, operates with catalytic Ex sensors
(CatEx sensors/catalytic, DQ or LC DrägerSensors)
– Polytron 8310 IR, operates with infrared Ex sensors (IREx
sensors)
– Polytron 8700 IR, operates with infrared sensors
(PIR 7000 sensors)
– Polytron 8720 IR, operates with infrared sensors
(PIR 7200 sensors)
The following interfaces are possible:
– 4 to 20 mA analog (per NAMUR recommendation NE43)
– Relay board
– Digital HART output signal
1)
– Foundation Fieldbus
1)
– PROFIBUS PA
1)
– Modbus RTU
If the 4 to 20 mA interface is used, the current must be
monitored between 0 mA and 3.5 mA. Currents between
0 mA and 3.5 mA can indicate a special state (see "Special
states", page 16).
If a relay board is used, local alarm devices can be activated.
If no relay board is used and an alarm is pending, only the red
LED on the instrument will flash.
Gas concentrations, status messages, and menu choices are
displayed on a backlit graphic LC-display and 3 colored LEDs.
Navigation through the menu takes place by tapping the
relevant key on the pane of the enclosure lid with a magnetic
wand. The instrument can be configured, calibrated and
maintained non-intrusively without declassifying the area.
The instruments are supplied with a data logger. The data
logger can store up to 35,000 values. At a sampling interval of
1 measurement per minute, the data logger can store the
measurement history of approximately 24 days. This time can
be significantly increased if the trigger function is activated.
The data logger can only be downloaded using the PolySoft
1) No relays are available when the fieldbus interface is used. The field-
bus interface does not conform to BVS 13 ATEX G 001 X.
Dräger SensorAlive is not supported.
