conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations other than those

CHAIN SAW SAFETY WARNINGS
1. WARNING!
Keep all body parts away from the saw chain when the saw chain is in operation.
2. WARNING!
Before starting the chain saw, make sure that the chain is not in contact with any objects.
A moment of inattention while operating the chain saw may cause your clothing or body to become
entangled with the chain.
3. WARNING!
Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand
on the front handle. Holding the saw upside down increases the risk of personal injury and must
never be done.
4. WARNING!
Wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Additional protective equipment for head,
hands, legs and feet is recommended. Proper protective clothing will reduce personal injury from
flying debris or accidental contact with the chain saw chain.
5. WARNING!
Always keep your feet on the ground and operate the chain saw only when standing
on a fixed, secure and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces, such as stairs, may cause loss of
balance or loss of control of the chain saw.
6. WARNING!
When cutting a branch that is under tension, watch for possible kickback. When the
tension is released from the wood fibres, the spring-loaded branch may strike the operator and/or
throw the saw out of control.
7. WARNING!
Use extreme caution when cutting shrubs and saplings. Thin material can damage the
chainsaw chain and be thrown towards you or cause you to lose your balance.
8. WARNING!
Carry the saw by the front handle, with the saw switched off and away from your body.
9. WARNING!
When transporting or storing the saw, always place the saw on the guide bar cover.
Proper handling of the chain saw will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the moving
chain.
10. WARNING!
Follow instructions for lubrication, chain tensioning and accessory replacement. An
improperly tensioned or lubricated chain can break or increase the possibility of kickback.
11. WARNING!
Keep handles dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Greasy and oily handles are slippery
and cause loss of control.
12. WARNING!
Cut wood only. Do not use the chain saw for purposes for which it is not intended. For
example: do not use the chain saw to cut plastic, masonry or building materials other than wood.
Use of the chain saw for operations other than those for which it was intended could result in a
hazardous situation.
