(8) If the plug connection on the original cable harness
cannot be disconnected, disconnect the part
remaining on the original seat (if there is any) from
the wiring harness required for the refit (isolate the
interfaces).

(10) Backrest comfort function – remains on original seat
Part of the cable harness from the original seat is
needed when installing the RECARO seat. The harness
must be removed from the seat and suitably modified.
Observe the schematic diagram in Figure G and Section
"B2 Installation instructions for deactivating or refitting
the side airbag" when doing so.
The connector to the vehicle must be disconnected to
remove the original seat. The universal interface on the
cable harness must be attached to the side of the seat in
a suitable place between the airbag and the airbag con-
nector.
1.
Detach the cable harness cable clips from the
original seat and take the amount of cable bundle
required for the modification (compare connection
type I or connection type II in Figure G).
2.
Alter the cable harness as indicated in Chapter "B2
Installation instructions for deactivating or refitting
the side airbag".
3.
Make sure that the movable length of the cable
harness is adjusted to the seat length adjustment
path.
4.
Set the modified cable harness aside in a safe
place. It will be reused to install the RECARO seat.
The RECARO side airbag must be connected to the side
airbag connection in the vehicle as indicated in Section
"B2 Installation instructions for deactivating or refitting
the side airbag".

2.1 Fitting the connectors (Figures H to J)
1.
Cut through the side airbag supply cable at a
suitable point on the original seat (Figure H).
Attention: There must be enough cable left on both
sides of the disconnection point to fit the connector.
2. Strip all cut cables.
Fitting the connector to the vehicle (Figure I)
In the case of the Ergomed seat, the yellow-
violet connector only contains the two ignition
cables. The ESD ground connection is estab-
lished via the electrical seat connection.
1.
Insert the crimp contacts with socket onto the 2 or
3 wires and crimp them with a suitable crimping tool.
2.
Insert the crimp contact with socket into the yellow/
violet connector (socket housing).
The airbag ignition cable in Chamber 1 and 2;
ground (if present) in Chamber 3.
3.
Ensure that the contacts engage properly.
Fitting the connector on the original seat (Figure J)
1.
Insert the crimp contacts with pin onto the 2 or
3 wires and crimp them with a suitable crimping tool.
2.
Insert the crimp contact into the yellow/violet
connector (pin housing).
3.
Make sure that the colour coding on the yellow/
purple connector matches the colour coding on
the mating connector in the vehicle and that the
contacts lock into place correctly.
WARNING
Risk of injury from unintentional triggering of the
side airbag!
Keep the standard seat in a place that is not acces-
sible to children.
Do not connect the electrical connections on the
standard seat and on the side airbag to electrical
voltage sources.
