Magnetic Field Positioning System
5
Installation and connection
There are three options for the installation:
–
Attachment to a pneumatic cylinder using a C-slot or
T-slot (see chapter 5.1 and 5.2).
–
Mounting via hose clamps and round cylinder holder at
a round cylinder (see Section 5.3).
–
Mounting via additional holders on cylinders with
dovetail slot or dovetail rail (see chapter 5.6).
Important installation information
NOTICE
Interference in function
Improper installation can compromise the function of the
BMP and result in increased wear and damage.
► The position magnet must not touch the BMP.
► Shield magnetic fields that can influence the
measurement.
► Install without force.
► Do not tilt the housing during installation.
► Do not tilt the hexagon socket.
► Tighten the screws carefully.
Position the BMP so that the measurement range can
detect the entire movement range of the position magnet.
The position magnet can be axially (factory setting) or
radially polarized (adjustable using button or IO-Link). The
orientation does not matter.
The position detected by the BMP lies in the center of the
position magnet.
For installation on a pneumatic cylinder, only cylinders
which have a permanent magnet installed as a position
magnet are possible.
A rotating cylinder head leads to higher inaccuracy.
For additional mounting options, see
Accessories on page 25.
