10.13 SELF-RETRACTING LOWER BLADE GUARD
The lower blade guard is made of shock-resistant, transparent plastic that covers both sides of the blade. It retracts over
the upper blade guard as the saw is lowered into the workpiece.
10.14 MOUNTING HOLES
See Figure 10.
Your compound mitre saw should be permanently mounted on a firm surface such as a workbench. Four 11 mm bolt holes
have been provided in the saw base for mounting it. The saw should be bolted through all four mounting holes using
11 mm bolts, locking washers and hex nuts (not included). The bolts should be sufficiently long to pass through the base
of the saw, the workbench and the locking washers.
Tighten all four bolts properly.
The template for a 473 mm x 610 mm stand is shown in figure 10. Carefully check the workbench after mounting to make
sure that it cannot move during use. If it is likely to tip up, slide or walk, secure the workbench to the floor before using
the saw.
WARNING: Always ensure that your mitre saw is securely mounted on a workbench or suitable stand. Failure
to do so could result in serious personal injury.
WARNING: The operation of any power tool can result in foreign objects being projected into your eyes, resulting
in severe eye damage. Before using your saw, put on safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and a dust
mask, if appropriate. If you wear glasses, you should wear a visor or standard safety glasses with side shields over
them.
WARNING: Do not attempt to modify this saw or use accessories that are not recommended for use with this saw.
Any such alteration or modification is considered to be misuse and may be dangerous and lead to serious personal
injury.

ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING: To prevent the saw starting accidentally and possibly causing serious personal injury, fit all accessories
to your saw before attaching the battery pack. Always remove the battery pack from your saw when you are fitting
parts, making adjustments, attaching or removing a blade, cleaning or when you are not using your saw.
Your saw has been factory assembled and adjusted. The dust deflector, dust bag and blade are the only accessories that
have to be fitted.
11.1
DUST DEFLECTOR
See Figure 11.
Remove the battery pack from the saw.
WARNING: Failure to remove the battery pack from the saw could result in the saw starting accidentally and cause
serious personal injury.
To fit the dust deflector, place the end marked INSERT over the extractor port in the upper blade guard. Turn the guide
so that the open end is facing down or towards the rear of the saw.

DUST BAG
See Figure 12.
Remove the battery pack from the saw.
WARNING: Failure to remove the battery pack from the saw could result in the saw starting accidentally and cause
serious personal injury.
The dust bag is supplied with your saw. It fits over the extractor port on the upper blade guard. To fit it, remove the dust
deflector from the extractor port. Then, squeeze the two metal clips to open the mouth of the bag and slide it onto the
extractor port. Release the clips. The metal ring in the bag should lock between the grooves on the extractor port.
For efficient operation, empty the dust bag when it is no more than half full. This will allow a better air flow through the bag.
