RIM CLAMPED FROM THE OUTSIDE (wheels from 11-22")
Press the pedal (5, Fig. L) to the middle position to position the 4 sliding clamps
(6, Fig. L) so that the reference on the table top is more or less in line with
the tyre diameter stamped on the sliding clamp.
Place the wheel on the table top and push down on the wheel while depressing
the pedal (5, Fig. L) all the way to clamp the wheel.
RIM CLAMPED FROM THE INSIDE (wheels from 13-25")
Press the pedal (5, Fig. L) all the way down to close the 4 sliding clamps (6,
Fig. L) completely.
Put the wheel on the table top and depress pedal (5, Fig. L) all the way down.
The 4 sliding clamps will open and clamp the wheel.
10.3 DEMOUNTING
ATTENTION: For mounting and demounting operations with the tyre changers
equipped with PT see the "istruction manual" for proper use. When working
on RUN FLAT, LOW PROFILE or UHP tyres, refer to the WDK procedures and
the manuals of the specific accessories.
1) Depress the pedal (7, Fig. L) to bring the arm (11, Fig. L) to its working
position.
Do not place your hands on the wheel: when moving the
arm to its working position your hands could be crushed
between the rim and the mounting head.
2) Position the mount/demount tool (16, Fig. L) by hand against the edge of the rim.
Press the yellow button on the handle (9, Fig. L). The hexagonal arm (10, Fig. L) and horizontal arm (11, Fig. L) will be automatically locked
in position and, at the same time, the mount/demount head (16, Fig. L) will be lifted 2 mm off the rim edge.
3) With the help of the bead lifting tool (1, Fig. O) inserted over the forward end of the mount/demount tool (16, Fig. L) and below the top
bead, lift the upper bead over the knob portion of the mount/demount head.
N.B. To prevent pinching the inner tube, do this operation with the valve about 10 cm to the left of the mount/demount tool.
4) Hold the bead lifting tool in this position and hold the pedal (1, Fig. L) depressed to turn the table top (2, Fig. L) clockwise until the tyre
comes completely off the rim.
To prevent industrial accidents, keep hands and other parts
of the body as far from the tool arm as possible when the
table top is turning.
NOTE: If the bead rubber is particularly hard and stiff, it will tend to slip off the
mount/demount tool. To prevent this, before turning the table top clockwise,
rotate it anticlockwise for a couple of centimeters while holding the bead lifting
tool (1) as shown in Fig. O.
5) Remove the inner tube if the tyre has one.
6) Repeat the procedure described in point 3 to demount the lower bead.
