7.3- Chopping impeller knives sharpening
Attention:
Never sharpen the knives with the
protecting cover of the impeller opened.
Besides, always use goggles to sharpen
the knives. Never use a device other than
the one coupled to the machine to
sharpen the knives. Do not allow people
near the outlet chute when you are
sharpenning the blades,
Sharpen the blades of the chopping rotor every 120 to
200 tons harvested or at least every two days.
Therefore, to sharpen the knives follow the procedure
below:
a) Turn off the tractor.
b) Uprise the sield and remove the cover.
c) Insert the rod (4) in the hole (5), threading it to the
sharpener (1).
Note: You find the rod (4) in the machine toolbox.
Note:
Before beginning to sharpen the knives,
remove one of the gears of the gathering
drums, according to procedure mentioned in
the sub-item 7.6.
d) Remove the plate (6).
e) Turn the tractor on and speed up the PTO till you
reach 540 rpm on the PTO shaft.
f) Turn the adjusting nut (2) to get the sharpener (1)
close to the impeller's knives till it begins emitting
sparks.
g) With the rod (4), make a ¨pushing and pulling¨
movement to the sharpener (1) till the sparks stop.
h) Align the rod (4) and get the sharpener (1) near again
through the adjusting nut, till it begins sparking.
I) Repeat the sharpening procedure till the sparks stop.
j) Remove the rod (4) and reinstall the covers.
