Step 4: Check the temperature probe
Look on the bottom of the generator where the plugs are. If there is a small
black cable leading into the frame that looks like this (left), the generator has the
old style temperature probe. If the generator has a short pigtail type temperature
sensor like the replacement unit (right), ignore this step and move on to step 5.
In order to completely remove the generator, this probe must first be removed
from the foot with the white bottom then the cable can be pulled out of the
frame. Use a 5mm hex bit to remove the 6 screws (left). Pay attention to the
orientation of the screw holes in the foot, they need to be reinstalled in the same
position. Now separate the white pad from the frame and you will see the black
cable going into the center of the white pad. To remove it simply pull it straight
out and then pull the cable through the frame (right). Finally, reinstall the screws
to secure the white pad being careful not to overtighten them as the threads are
plastic. Now the generator can be completely removed.
Step 5: Installing new generator
Install the 6 to 4 pin adaptor onto the replacement generator as shown below.
Install the replacement generator into the frame following the previous steps in
reverse.
