Pressure on suction
The suction pressure must not exceed the limits shown in the tables of (figure A9,
value P1 max).

6 MECHANICAL INSTALLATION

Remove the pump from the packaging and check that it is intact. Also
check whether the rating plate details match the desired ones. In case of any
discrepancies, contact the supplier immediately, specifying the nature of the
defects.
6.1 Machine handling
To lift the machine, use only suitable, properly marked devices in good working
condition. Do not exceed the load capacity of the least resistant device among all
those used (lifting lug, shackle, hook, carabiner, chain, rope, hoist or other). Only
use hooks with safety latch. Use adjustable lifting lugs or check their maximum
load capacity for non-axial loads.
Check the weight of the machine before starting the lifting operations.
The weight is indicated on the rating plate. For pumps sold without
motor, the indicated weight refers only to the pump
The suspension point provided on the pump/electric pump does not
match the machine's centre of mass
During lifting, the machine will tend to rotate around the lifting point until it
reaches a balanced position. Handle with care. Pay attention to the inertia of
the object (oscillations in the direction of travel, difficulty in slowing down and
stopping).
The eyebolts on the motors must only be used to move the motor (see fig.
A10-C).
If the appliance is fitted with lifting eyelets, attach the lifting straps or chains to
the eyelets using lifting hooks or shackles, as shown in fig. (A10-B and F). Follow
the user instructions provided by the manufacturer of the lifting devices. For
pumps not fitted with eyelets, wrap the belts around the pump motor support
(fig. A10-E), taking particular care not to damage the side coupling shield
protections. For electric pumps without eyelets (fig A10-A), strictly follow the
instructions below (see also fig. A10 - from 1 to 4):
1) Wrap the belts around the motor support
2) Bring the appliance to the ground, rotating it around a corner of the base,
controlling the movement by means of lifting equipment and controlling any
sudden overturning with one foot
3) Lay the appliance on the ground
4) Lift it slowly until the appliance reaches a balanced position (with the motor
upwards or downwards, as appropriate).
Pay attention to suspended loads. Do not stand under them. Pay attention
to people, animals and objects in the work area. Use appropriate work
area marking tools and delimiters, where necessary. Do not operate the
pump or let it pass over people.
6.2 Positioning
• Install the electric pump in an accessible location and protected against frost,
leave enough space around the electric pump to allow use and maintenance
operations.
• Vertical mounting with the motor located in the lower part is not allowed (see
fig. A11-A).
• The machines can be installed horizontally only using the appropriate kit
(optional). See fig. A11-B. Do not install in positions other than those described
or if there is no adequate support and ground fixing.
• Check that there are no obstacles to the motor cooling air flow, ensure at least
100mm of free space above the fan (Fig. A5).
• Any liquid leaks or similar must be drained and must not flood the installation
site and/or submerge the unit.
• The electric pump must ALWAYS be securely fastened to a concrete foundation
or equivalent metal structure, of appropriate size and weight for the dimensions
and weight of the electric pump. Use screws suitable for the provided fixing
holes (see fig. A9 for dimensions and tightening torques).
• Place anti-vibration joints between the pump and the foundation to minimise
vibrations.
• Make sure the pump orientation is correct: the flow rate arrows on the pump
must be oriented facing the flow direction of the pipes.
• The connection pipes must be suitable for the pressure, temperature and nature
of the liquid pumped. Adequate sealing gaskets must be placed between the
pipe connections and the pump. The torques and forces that are exerted on the
flange connections must not exceed the values indicated in fig. A9.
• The motor can be rotated with respect to the factory position, according to
the installation needs. See fig. A12 and A13 in the appendix, according to the
model.
6.3 Two-pump high pressure units
The high pressure units must be installed as per fig. A8-B. The high pressure
pump must ALWAYS be positioned second, in the direction of the flow rate.
Incorrect connection of the high pressure pump may cause personal
injury and property damage.
6.4 Bare shaft pumps – Motor installation
• Use only dynamically balanced motors with normal vibration rating (A)
according to IEC 60034-14, whose dimensions and power comply with IEC
standards 60072 and IEC 60034, IP55 protection rating and thermal insulation
class F or higher;
• Refer to fig. A9 to select the correct motor size (see rated power and IEC
interface)
The power indicated on the rating plate and in the tables refers to use
with clean water. For denser or more viscous liquids, consult the
Manufacturer.
• The motor shaft must be equipped with a slot and a feather key,
• Check that the coupling surface is flat,
• To facilitate the coupling between pump and motor, it may be required to
disassemble at least one of the guards.
• The electric motor must be installed by lowering it over the pump (already in
a vertical position) and matching the motor shaft with the hole of the joint or
of the intermediate shaft of the pump. Fasten the motor using screws suitable
for the holes provided. Refer to fig. A12-4 and A13 in the appendix, according
to the model.
• Optional check: Before starting the motor, dismantle a guard, manually turn
the shaft and pay attention to any metallic noises, indicating potential coupling
problems. If so, contact the Manufacturer.
• For motor use and connections, refer to the relevant "Installation Instructions"
manual
Put the guards back in at the end of the operations, if they have been
removed.
6.5 Additional protections and guards
• The surfaces of the electric pump may reach high temperatures depending on
the temperature of the pumped liquid. If deemed necessary, provide guards to
prevent accidental contact, without interfering with the normal functionality of
the machine (e.g. motor cooling).
• High-speed liquid splashes may be generated in the event of breakage,
installation errors or during filling operations. Provide appropriate fixed or
temporary guards, in the event that liquid spills can be dangerous or harmful
to human or animal health.
6.6 Accessories
• hydraulic connections kit: they enable connecting the hydraulic part to the
pipes (according to the type of connection desired).
• horizontal installation kit for vertical pumps: enables installation of the pumps
in a horizontal position, ensuring correct operation (fig. A11-B)
• assembly kit for two-pump high pressure units: enables the hydraulic
connection between the two pumps of the high pressure unit (fig. A8-B)
7 COMMISSIONING
Splashes of liquid dangerous to people or things may occur.
Do not start the pump without the coupling guards correctly installed.
During operation, the external surfaces of the pump and motor may
exceed 40°C (104°F). Do not touch the unit without adequate protections.
Do not place flammable material near the pump.
WARNING: The electric pump must NOT be started before filling. Its dry use may
irreparably damage the mechanical seal.
7.1 Priming
NOTE: It may be required to remove the coupling cover guards to perform this
operation.
Restore the guards immediately after the operation is completed.
Case with liquid level above the pump (B in fig. A5):
Close the delivery valve (8 in fig. A5).
• Loosen the pin on the filler cap (detail 1 in fig. A3).
• Open the suction shut-off valve (4 in fig. A5) to allow the liquid to enter, wait
until the water comes out of the side hole of the cap. Loosen the insert on the
drain plug (detail 3 or 4 in fig. A3) to facilitate filling.
• Tighten the filler cap pin and the drain plug insert.
