EARTHING THE WORKPIECE
When the workpiece is not earthed for electrical safety reasons
or due to its size and position, the earthing of the workpiece
may reduce the emissione. It is important to remember that the
earthing of the workpiece should neither increase the risk of
accidents for the operators, nor damage other electric equip-
ment.
The earthing must be made according to the national regula-
tions.
SHIELDING
The selective shielding of other cables and equipment present
in the surrounding area may reduce the problems due to inter-
ference. The shielding of the entire welding (cutting) installation
can be taken in consideration for special applications.

1.5 Positioning of the system

Keep to the following rules:
- Easy access to the equipment controls and connections
must be provided.
- Do not position the equipment in reduced spaces.
- Do not place the system on surfaces with inclination
exceeding 10° with respect to the horizontal plane.
- Position the system in a dry, clean and suitably ventilated
place.
Protect the system against driving rain and the sun.
-

1.6 IP Protection rating

Casing protection rating in compliance with EN 60529:
IP23S
- Casing protected against access to dangerous parts with fin-
gers and against solid foreign bodies with diameter greater
than/equal to 12.5 mm
- Casing protected against rain failing at 60°on the vertical line.
- Casing protected against harmful effects of water seeping in
when the moving parts of the equipment are not operating.

2.0 MACHINE DESCRIPTION

The GENESIS GSM are multifunction synergic generators that
can perform the following types of welding with excellent results:
- MMA;
- TIG;
- MIG/MAG.
The generator is equipped with:
- TIG (
) torch socket;
- positive (+) and negative (-) socket;
- front panel,
- rear panel.
The Genesis GSM (TLH) can be supplied with WU21 cooling
unit for liquid cooling of the TIG torch.

2.1 Front control panel

2.1.1 Front control panel FP142 (Fig. 1)
*
L1 : Power on: green led.
Comes on when the ignition switch on the rear panel (Fig. 4) "I1"
is in position "I". Indicates that the system is on and powered.
* L2: Safety device warning light yellow led.
Indicates that the safety devices like thermal cutout, mains
overvoltage and undervoltage are in operation.
With "L2" on, the generator remains connected to the mains
but does not provide power at the output. The control RC08,
RC10/14 or the PC display information on the type of protec-
tion in operation.
"L2" remains on until the fault is eliminated or, in the event
of overtemperature, until the internal temperatures have nor-
malised; in this case it is necessary to leave the generator on
to exploit the ventilator in operation.
* L3 : Voltage output warning light (work) red led.
Indicates the presence of output voltage.
* J1 : Serial connector.
To be used for the synergic remote control SW updating.
* J2 : Control device connector.
To be used for the RC08-RC10/14-SW connection.
* J3 : 7-pole military standard connector.
For connection of the remote controls RC16 and RC12.
2.1.2 Front control panel FP140 (Fig. 2)
The use of the front panel FP140 makes the generator suita-
ble for MMA and TIG welding operations.
For the description of the particulars L1, L3, J3, see 2.1.1

(Front control panel FP142).
