In the case of ball diverter valves with welding ends, care must be taken during ins-
tallation / welding-in to ensure that the seals do not overheat. Care must also be ta-
ken that no welding residues get inside the ball diverter valve. Any welding residues
that occur must be removed completely. Appropriate measures are to be taken.

Commissioning
Commissioning of the system must only be performed by qualified staff. Before
starting the system for the first time, the operating instructions must be read and
adhered to. It must also be checked that the installation work has been performed
correctly.
CAUTION: The pipeline system must have been bled, as air bubbles can cause
explosions in the event of sudden pressure build-up. For this reason, the operating
pressure should only be increased in stages.
If the ball diverter valves are being used as end valves, the unused connections
have to be professionally closed up. Application faults can result in a danger to
life from flinging objects!

Operation / maintenance
To actuate the ball diverter valve, the valve key is used to turn the switching shaft by
90° (Fig. a). The switching shaft position is displayed by means of the flow direction
indicator (Fig. b), and the switching position is also shown by notches on the front
surface of the switching shaft (Fig. c). Switching must only be performed using the
valve key and not using other tools (e.g. open-end spanner, hammer, extension,
etc.), otherwise the switching shaft, valve key and/or housing could be damaged.
The valve must not be switched with force. When switching the ball diverter
valve, the end positions and/or switch positions must be reached completely. An
intermediate or throttle setting is not permitted during operation, as this
would result in breakdown of the ball diverter valve. This would also result in a
considerable temperature increase on the surface of the ball diverter valve.
In the event of long storage or idle times in one switching position, the torque will
increase significantly compared with the actual torque (break-loose torque). In order
to retain the proper function in the event of long idle times, the switch position of
the ball diverter valve must be switched at regular intervals. The ball diverter valve
must also be checked at regular intervals for tightness, function and damage. The
maintenance intervals depend on the operating conditions and are to be determined
by the operator.
If deviations from the normal condition are identified during maintenance (e.g.
leakages, incorrect switching functions, etc.), the ball diverter valve must be
replaced immediately or repaired by a professional in order to ensure continued
safe operation.
Makeshift repairs of all kinds are prohibited!
If the ball diverter valve is operated together with a safety valve, operating
the valve in a throttle / intermediate position would represent a safety ha-
zard. This is due to the reduced cross-section which can impair the functional
safety of the safety valve.
