Emergency stop switch
Only use the Emergency Stop switch (fig. 1, item 2)
in case of emergency. Activating the Emergency Stop
switch will immediately stop the injector test and the
operation of the EPS 118. The EPS 118 software contin-
ues running. Once the emergency switch is switched on
again, the EPS 118 software will automatically reboot
and reconnect to the EPS 118.

Preparation for testing
1. Check the amount of test oil on the oil level indicator
prior to every test (fig.°1, item 4).
!
The test oil level must always be above the mark of
the oil level indicator (fig.°1, item 4) but also within
the sight glass. If the test oil level cannot be seen in
the within the sight glass, too much test oil has been
filled, which will distort the measured values.
!
If the amount of test oil in the test oil tank drops
below 2°l, the EPS 118 will stop the test and a
message is displayed. This prevents damages to the
EPS 118.
2. To avoid contamination of the test oil, each
CRI/CRIN and piezo CRI injector must be cleaned
before testing (see sec. 7.7). Never fit damaged,
contaminated and/or severely corroded CRI/CRIN
and CRI Piezo for testing.

Cleaning instructions for CRI/CRIN
and CRI Piezo
!
Do not clean the nozzle cone with a brass brush,
steel brush or the like as this would damage the in-
jection orifices. Do not clean injection orifices with
the nozzle cleaning tool 0 986 611 140. Do not clean
the electrical connection of the injector with cold
cleaning agent.
1. Seal the inlet connection, return connection and
nozzle cone of the injector with protective caps or
cover over.
2. Use a plastic brush to remove any coarse dirt on the
injector.
3. Pre-clean the injector with cold cleaning agent.
!
Use the cleaning agent Tickopur TR 13 or a compara-
ble corrosion and coke-dissolving cleaning agent for
ultrasonic cleaning.
4. Remove the protective cap from the nozzle cone.
5. Attach the injector to a suitable holding device and
immerse it in the ultrasonic bath until the nozzle
retaining nut is completely covered by the cleaning
agent.
6. Set a cleaning temperature of 60 °C to 70 °C.
7. After approx. 15 min, take the injector out of the
ultrasonic bath and blow dry with compressed air.
i
After cleaning, always store injectors in a clean,
closed container. This prevents the injectors from
coming into contact with dirt particles (e.g. fluff and
swarf).
i
Also heed the additional cleaning information in the
ESI[tronic] 2.0 component repair instructions.
