Danger of Crushing
The clamping device carries out sudden and sometimes considerable axial
and / or radial movements within a short time, occasionally with high forces.
Therefore, for assembly and set-up work or in the case of manual work-
piece loading, the actuating unit for operating the clamping fixture must al-
ways be switched off.
However, if it is not possible to forego the travel movement in set-up mode,
for travel distances of more than 4 mm and / or with smallest possible
gaps of less than 25 mm,
▪ a permanently or temporarily installed tool holding device (e.g. a prism)
must be installed on the device,
or
▪ an independently operated built-in holding device (e.g. centering jaws on
centering and facing chucks) must be available
or
▪ a workpiece loading aid (e.g. tamping rod) must be provided,
or
▪ a deceleration of the travel movement (e.g. by throttling the hydraulic sup-
ply) to movement speeds of not more than 2m/min is to be set (spe-
cification as per DIN EN ISO 23125:2015-04).
The type of set-up device generally depends on the processing machine used
and is also to be acquired separately if necessary!
The machine owner must ensure that all danger to persons due to the travel
movement is prevented. For this purpose, 2-handed operation or - preferably -
suitable safety guards can be used.
