1.2.11
Service Work
The reliability of the clamping fixture can only be ensured if the maintenance
regulations of the operating instructions are exactly observed. In particular the
following points must be observed:
▪ The lubricant recommended in the operating instructions should be used
for lubrication. (Unsuitable lubricants may reduce the clamping force by
more than 50%).
▪ In the case of manual lubrication, all surfaces to be lubricated must be
reached. (The narrow fits of the mounting parts require high pressure for
pressing in. Therefore, if necessary, a high-pressure grease gun is to be
used).
▪ For good grease distribution in the case of manual lubrication:
move the internally moved parts several times to their end positions, lub-
ricate again then check the clamping force.
▪ For better grease distribution in the case of central lubrication, the lubrica-
tion pulses should occur in the open position phase of the clamping
device.
The clamping force must be checked with a clamping force measuring device
before re-starting series production and between the maintenance intervals.
"Only regular checks ensure optimum reliability". It is recommended to move
the internally moved parts several times to their end positions at the latest
after 500 clamping strokes. (This returns lubricant which has been pushed
away to the pressure surfaces. The clamping force is therefore maintained
longer).
1.2.12
Collision
Following a collision of the clamping device, it must be subjected to a thor-
ough, qualified inspection for cracks before being used again.
1.2.13
Replacement of Slot Nuts
If the top jaws are connected to the base jaw via a slot nut, the latter may only
be replaced with an ORIGINAL RÖHM slot nut.
