7.5 - Scaler

7.5.1 - Scaler with LED

The transducer (5), the LED (3), the tips and the scaler
wrenches (6) must be autoclaved for sterilization in
accordance with the instructions in section 7.3 (Sterilization by
Autoclave).
Prior to the transducer sterilization, remove the tip of the
scaler (if it is attached), LED removable cover (1), the light
driver (2) and the finishing ring (4). Clean these items by
removing visible dirt with a soft sponge or cloth and running
water. For cleaning in an ultrasonic tub, use appropriate pure
water and a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 10
minutes.
For disinfection use a 75% alcohol or 2% glutaraldehyde solution to
disinfect the tips. Dry the tips at the end of the procedure with a hot air blower.
For the proper functioning of the scaler, the LED (3) must be correctly
inserted in the transducer (5) matching the LED's positive pole with the
transducer's positive pole.
Only use dental autoclave for sterilization of tips, wrenches, transducer (5) and LED (3).

7.5.2 - Standard Scaler

for cleaning and sterilization. Do not autoclave.
For both standard scaler or LED, the following sterilization
