STUNNING THE ANIMAL
ENSURE SPONGE IS WET
01
If the Crustastun has not been used for over
ten minutes, close and re-open the lid. This
will allow the water scoop to pick up the
water and ensure the sponge is wet.
IMPORTANT
The sponge MUST be wet before
stunning an animal. A dry sponge
could cause unnecessary suffering
to the animal and reduce the
quality of the meat texture.
PUT CRUSTACEAN IN THE UNIT
02
Place the animal on the centre
of the sprung tray, belly down,
and carefully close the lid.
The full length of lobster-type
animals needs to be in contact
with the metal tray to ensure
electrical contact with all of the
ganglia.
IMPORTANT
Ensure the animal is contained
within the tank. No antennae
should be left overhanging to
avoid operator electrocution.
STUN THE ANIMAL
03
Make sure you open and close the lid
before start of a new cycle. You can
press the appropriate stun button.
There are two stun options:
Short cycle is marked with the
lobster symbol. Use this button
to stun crayfish, langoustine, tiger
prawns and most lobsters.
Long cycle is marked with crab
symbol. It is suitable for crabs and
larger lobsters.
If you use the short cycle and the animal
shows signs of reviving, stun again,
using the crab button.
AUDIBLE REMINDER
If a stunned animal has been left in the
Crustastun for over two minutes, there
will be a short beep to remind the
operator to remove the animal.
