TROUBLESHOOTING
STUN CURRENT TOO LOW
The cycle starts, but ends unexpectedly with
four short beeps.
AND
The first stun current indicator light flashes until
the lid is opened.
AND
The animal is not stunned.
STUN CURRENT TOO HIGH
The cycle starts, but ends unexpectedly with
four short beeps.
AND
All the stun current indicator lights flash until the
lid is opened.
(The animal may or may not be stunned.)
STUN CYCLE DOES NOT START
When a stun button is pressed, the cycle does
not start and there are four short beeps.
BEEPS EVERY FEW MINUTES
The lid is closed and the unit beeps every two
minutes.
POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
Make sure the animal has been placed correctly
in the tank.
Is the sponge discoloured, damaged or severely
pitted? Replace the sponge.
Is the sponge too dry? Ensure the sponge is
damp by opening and closing lid a few times.
Is the sponge wet when the lid is opened? The
tank water level may be too low – top it up to
the fill level indicator.
Is the top electrode very discoloured, damaged
or dirty? Clean the top electrode with a scourer,
being careful not to scratch the black plastic
surround.
The conductivity of the salt water may be too
low or the solution poorly mixed. Make sure the
salt concentration is correct and the solution is
properly mixed.
POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
The water level may be too high, causing a short
circuit where current skirts around the animal
instead of passing through it.
The conductivity of the salt water may be too
high. Reduce the salt concentration by draining
a quarter of the salt water from the tank and
topping it up with fresh, cold water.
Is the sponge damaged or sagging into the
tank? Replace the sponge.
POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
Make sure the lid is properly closed.
Following a cycle, the lid must be opened and
closed before a new cycle can start. Open and
close the lid and try again.
POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
This is a reminder that a cycle has completed
but the lid has not been opened. Open the lid
and remove stunned animal.
