Argon Handle and Electrodes
During assembly, ensure that the threaded cap 1 is in the front detent
position (see figure).
Slide the shaft tube 2 over the distal end of the argon electrode and
screw it firmly together with the threaded cap 1.
WARNING
Risk of injury from sharp needle electrode
Fit and remove only when retracted.
Firstly it must be ensured that the HF generator and the Argon
controlling device are ready for operation. The valve on the gas bottle
must be open and there must be a sufficent reserve of gas.
1.
Sterilely remove the handle and electrodes from the container.
2.
Carry out a visual inspection of the instrument for damage to
the insulation. Do not use damaged instruments! BOWA warns
against repairing damage. The instrument operates with high
coagulation voltages!
3.
Insert the required Argon electrode into the electrode mounting
of the handle. Ensure that the plastic hexagonal part of the
electrode shaft is completely housed by the handle.
4.
Connect the 3 pin plug to the HF surgical instrument.
5.
Connect the Argon gas connector to the Argon controlling
device. For this, connect the male Luer Lock connection of the
handle to the female Luer Lock gas outlet of the Argon
controlling device.
It is recommended that a sterile filter (Art. No. 830-050) be used
between the Argon instrument and the connection plug of the
Argon handle.
6.
Activate the purge function of the Argon gas controlling device
in order to flood the gas inlet of the handle with Argon gas.
7.
Operate the foot switch and/or the finger switch of the Argon
surgical handle consecutively and check system operation
(activation of the Argon gas controlling device and the HF
generator).
