Chapter 3. Machine adjustment and setting up
3.2. Adjustment
ERROR MESSAGES
The electronic board can detect some errors signalled by displaying the following messages on the display (D1):
E 1 Machine has been switched on when the hood was lowered. Lift the hood up.
E 2 Machine has been switched on when the (S) button was pressed. Release the button. If the error signalling still
persists, check the correct functioning of the button.
E 3 Working temperature hasn't been reached in the set time (10 min.). Check the correct positioning of the probe.
Check heater and fuses. Reset with (P) button.
E 4 Temperature is higher than 400°C or probe has been disconnected. Restart the machine to reset it.
E 6 Safety override limit switch broken (always closed ).Check the correct functioning of the safety override limit switch,
then switch the machine off and on again.

lifted, signalling will disappear.

3.3. Manual and automatic cycle

The machine can be operated with a manual as well as with an automatic cycle.
To carry out only one operating cycle rotate the selector (6) to the "MAN." position and press the start button (7) (figure
3.3.A page 66).
To operate the automatic cycle rotate the selector (6) to the "AUT." position and press the start button (7) (figure 3.3.B
page 66).
The machine is equipped with an EMERGENCY PUSHBUTTON (8) which blocks it immediately when
pressed, bringing the sealing frame into start position (figure 3.3.C page 67).
The machine has also an automatic safety system on the sealing frame which intervenes if lowering of
the frame is hindered, bringing the frame back to the start position.

3.4. Film reel insertion

Insert the reel of film on the roller (11) and lock it with the centring cones (12).
Position the roller on the film reel support (13).
Run through the micropunches (14).
Run the film lower layer under the packaging plate (15).
Run the film upper layer over the packaging plate (15).
(figure 3.4. page 67).

3.5. Conveyor belt adjustment

Adjust the height of the conveyor belt (17) with the special handwheel (18) (figure 3.5. page 67).
N.B.: In order to get a good pack the conveyor belt should be positioned in such a way that the film seal is made half way
up the pack.

3.6. Reel support and packaging plate adjustment

The reel support (13) and the packaging plate (15) must be adjusted according to the width (a) of the article to be
packaged, leaving a space of about 1-2 cm between the article and the sealing edge (figure 3.6. page 67).

3.7. Making the first seal

To make the first seal move the film, as shown in the figure (figure 3.7.A page 67).
Rotate the selector (6) to "MAN." position and press the start button (7).
The transparent hood (19) will be lowered automatically and the first seal is made on the left side of the film (figure 3.7.B
page 67). With your right hand detach the film from the sealing blade.

3.8. Film binding on rewinder

Carry out a number of cycles sufficient to make a strip of scrap film (figure 3.8.A page 67).
Guide this film strip around the transmission rollers (20) and (21) and the control roller (22) and bind it to the rewinder
(23) (figure 3.8.B page 67). The machine is now ready to start packaging.

3.9. Connecting and starting the fume extractor (if present)

Insert the plug of the exhauster in the socket (24) at the back of the machine (figure 3.9. page 68).
Press the button (25) on the side of the extractor.
3.10. Introducing the object to be wrapped
Lift the film edge on the packaging plate (15) with your left hand (figure 3.10. page 68).
Introduce the product with your right hand in the film and move if to the left until it settles on the conveyor belt (17)
leaving about 1-2 cm space between the product and the inner edge of the sealing frame to allow the air flow for shrink-
wrapping.
