WARNING!
•
Helmet users must read, learn and respect the basic rules given in this manual.
•
The radiation emitted by the electric arc during welding can damage the eyes and burn the skin. In addition, welding produces sparks and drops of
molten metal that fly in all directions. The protective helmet must be worn to avoid potentially serious physical damages.
•
Do not, for any reason, set fire to the welding helmet because the smoke it produces will damage the eyes and body if inhaled.
•
The material used to make the whole helmet does not endanger people or the environment.
•
Regularly check the conditions of the helmet:
-
Before using it, make sure that the filter-glass and the cover plates are in the correct position and correctly fixed in place: they must be exactly in the
space described.
-
Keep the helmet away from flames.
-
The helmet must not be placed too close to the welding area.
-
When welding for extended periods, occasionally check the helmet to make sure there are no signs of deformation or deterioration.
-
Subjects with particularly sensitive skin must take extra care: materials that may come into contact with the skin can cause allergic reactions.
•
This self-darkening helmet is homologated only for protecting the face and eyes from ultraviolet and infrared radiation, from sparks and welding sprays.
It is not suitable for laser welding and oxy-acetylene welding and cutting or for protecting the face against explosions or corrosive liquids.
•
Only replace helmet parts with others that are specified in this manual. Non-observance of this regulation can expose the operator to health risks.
•
If the helmet does not darken or presents operation problems, refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING chapter; if the problem persists immediately stop using
the helmet and contact the person in charge or a distributor.
•
Do not immerse the filter in water or other liquids; do not use solvents to clean the filter and the cover plates.
•
Only use the helmet in temperatures of between: -5°C (+23°F) ÷ +55°C (+131°F).
•
Only store the helmet in temperatures of between: -20°C (-4°F) ÷ +65°C (+149°F).
•
Do not allow the filter to come into contact with liquid and dirt.
•
Do not open the filter container.
•
Never use the helmet without the internal and external cover plate protections.
•
Check the compatibility between marking cover plates and frame; both shall have marked the same symbol of resistance to increased robustness and
high speed particles, in this case "F". If the symbols of the marking are not common to both the cover plates and the frame, then it is the lower protection
level which shall be assigned to the complete eyes- protector.
•
Eye-protectors against high speed particles worn over standard ophthalmic spectacles may transmit impacts, thus creating a hazard to the wearer.
•
Do not use replacement parts other than those original TELWIN.
•
Unauthorized modifications and replacement parts will void the warranty and expose the operator to the risk of personal injury.
•
We recommend a use of the welding helmet, the auto darkening filter and the cover plates for a period of 2 years. The duration of use depends on
various factors such as use, cleaning storage and maintenance. Frequently inspections and replacement if it is damaged are recommended.
PRECAUTIONS
For your protection and to ensure that the welding autodarkening filter works preperly, read these instructions carefully and consult with a qualified instructor
or supervisor before starting to work.
•
These filters and cover plates can be used in all welding processes, with the exception of oxy-acetylene welding and laser welding.
•
The standard clear polycarbonate protective plate should be fit on both sides of the filters.
•
Failure to use protective cover plates may constitute a safety hazard or result in irreparable damage to the auto darkening filter.
MAINTENANCE
•
Frequently check the helmet components and replace any worn or damaged parts.
•
Replace the external/internal transparent cover plates protection if it is broken, scored, scratched and out of shape. Damaged protections impair the
vision of the user, which lowers helmet protection to a dangerous level.
•
Regularly clean the filter and the cover plates surfaces with a soft cloth and a non-aggressive cleaning solution, for example one for cleaning glass (do
not pour the product directly onto the filter).
•
Get into the habit of making sure that the solar cells and the sensors have not darkened or are not covered in dirt. If they have or if they are, clean them
with a soft paper tissue, if necessary slightly dampened with a preparation for cleaning glass (do not pour the product directly onto the filter).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
•
The helmet must always and only be used to protect the face and eyes during welding. It was designed to guarantee maximum protection during
welding, to be easy to assemble, comfortable to wear and of top quality when used.
•
The helmet and consequently the filter glass viewing area, must be kept as close as possible to the eyes during welding, in order to protect them from
the electric arc and possible drops of molten metal.
•
After using the helmet and before putting it away after working, it must be checked to verify integrity and to eliminate any drops of molten metal that may
be present on the viewing filter, which can reduce its visual performance.
•
The helmet must be placed in a way that does not allow its dimensions to deform permanently, or the viewing filter to break.
•
If the impact letter protection against high speed particles and marked on the helmet, filter and cover plates is not followed by the letter "T", then the
eye protector shall only be used against high speed particles at room temperature.
