6.11 Coagulating tissue
WARNING! Risk of bleeding by subsequently cutting incomplete-
ly coagulated or uncoagulated tissue.
• Make sure that the instrument jaws fully grasp the vessel to
be separated.
• Always continue coagulation until the VIO automatically de-
activates the HF current (AUTO STOP). The VIO emits 2 short
tones to indicate that coagulation is complete.
1. To coagulate the tissue, advance the COAG switch onto the
hand trigger.
2. When the VIO emits 2 short tones to indicate that coagula-
tion is complete, release the COAG switch (no picture).
6.12 Cutting tissue
WARNING! Risk of bleeding by cutting incompletely coagulated
or uncoagulated tissue.
• Coagulate tissue before cutting it as described in the previ-
ous section.
