CHECKING THE BRAKE PAD WEAR

Carefully read pag. 38 (BRAKE FLUID -
recommendations), pag. 38 ( DISC
BRAKES) and pag. 55 (MAINTENANCE).
The following information refer to a
single braking system, but are valid for
both.
Check brake pads wear at the end of the
running-in period or after the first 1,000 km,
and then every 4,000 km.
The wear is greater when the vehicle is
used on dusty or wet roads and off road
WARNING
Check the brake pads before every trip.

To carry out a rapid checking of the wear of
the pads, proceed as follows:
Position the vehicle on the stand.
Carry out a visual checking between the
brake caliper and the pads.Proceed:
√ from the front upper part for the front
brake caliper (1);
√ from the rear upper part for the rear
brake caliper (2).
If the thickness of the friction material
(even of one pad only) has reduced to
about 1 mm, replace both pads.

Have the pads changed by your aprilia

ADJUSTING THE COLD START
CONTROL ( )
Leggere attentamente Carefully read
pag. 55 (MAINTENANCE).
The ideal slack of the cold start control
should be about 2 ... 3 mm.
To adjust the slack, proceed as follows:
Position the vehicle on the stand.
Move to the left side of the vehicle.
CAUTION
DO NOT withdraw the accelera-tor cable
protection element (3).
Withdraw the protection element (4).
Loosen the nut (5)(by screwing it).
Act on the adjuster (6) positioned on the
carburettor.
After the adjustment:
Tighten
the
nut
(5)
(by
anticlockwise), thus locking the adjuster (6)
and put back the protection element (4).
