Align the saw chain (19/1) so that it is in
contact in the groove of the guide rail
(19/3) and on the drive sprocket (19/2).
5. Fit chain sprocket cover (16/2) and tighten
(16/b) with fastening nut (16/1).
6. Fit cover (16/2) again and tighten fastening
nut (16/1) finger-tight.
7. Tension the saw chain.

Tensioning and slackening the saw
chain (17)
NOTE The saw chain has been tensioned
correctly when:
It is in contact with the underside of the guide
rail and can be pulled through by hand.
It can be lifted by 3 – 4 mm in the middle of
the guide rail.
1. Slightly loosen the fastening nut of the cover.
2. Tension the saw chain; use the combination
spanner:
Tensioning the saw chain: Turn the chain
tensioning screw (17/1) clockwise (17/a).
Slackening the saw chain: Turn the chain
tensioning screw (17/1) anti-clockwise
(17/b).
3. Check the chain tension(see chapter 7.3.2
"Checking the chain tension", page 42). Re-
peat the previous step if necessary.

Hedge trimmer attachment (14, 15)

The angle of the hedge trimmer attachment can
be adjusted for optimum use.
1. Loosen adjusting lever (14/1).
2. Tilt the attachment to the desired position
(14/a).
3. Tighten adjusting lever (14/1).
4. Remove (15/a) guard rails (15/1) before start-
ing work.

5 FUEL AND SERVICE PRODUCTS

IMPORTANT! Danger of engine damage.
Pure petrol will result in damage and complete
failure of the engine. Guarantee claims against
the manufacturer are excluded in this case.
Always operate the engine using the speci-
fied petrol/oil mixture ratio.
Observe the safety instructions see chapter 3.1.8
"Handling of petrol and oil", page 36.
Always close the tank lid tightly

If petrol has leaked out:
Do not start the engine
Avoid start attempts
Clean the machine
Allow the remaining fuel to evaporate
away
5.1

Mixing fuel

NOTE Only use fuel mixed with a 25:1 ra-
tio. We recommend using fuels with a low bioeth-
anol content < 5%.
1. Add petrol and a brand-name 2-stroke engine
oil to a corresponding container, according to
the table.
2. Thoroughly mix both parts.

6 START-UP

NOTE Inspect the appliance for damage
every day before starting work, if it is dropped or
is subjected to other impacts. Have any damage
repaired before putting the appliance into opera-
tion.
Do not operate the machine if the cutting tool
and/or the fastening parts are loose, dam-
aged or worn!
Pass the carrying strap over your left shoul-
der and hook the strap into the eye on engine
unit (01/2)
Stand securely.
Always operate the blade with the guard
plate in place
Heed the country-specific regulations for the
operating times of chain saws
Always comply with the operating instructions
supplied from the engine manufacturer
Before using the cutting tool, check it for
damage or cracks, and have damaged or
worn parts replaced by genuine spare parts
