- Fit the clip with a loop on the wiring harness onto the upper pin (see arrow) in the vehicle's
cover panel. Fit a clip with a snapper in the hole in the rear side section (see arrows in the
detail).

- Insert the expanding nuts (D) (see detail) into the holes in the body on the D-pillar .
Applies to vehicles set up to accommodate a tow bar

How to connect and secure the control unit (C):
- Plug the connector (with fuse) from the tow bar's (A) wiring harness and the ŠKODA connec-
tors into the control unit (C).
- Fit the control unit onto the expanding nuts inserted into the holes in the D-pillar as shown
in the figure, and use screws (E) to fasten it in place. Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (see
detail).
- Fasten the wire from the electrical installation for connecting the tow bar (A) to the control
unit (C) to the clip for the vehicle's existing electrical installation (see arrow).
Earth connection
- Take the earthing loop on the wire from the tow bar's (A) wiring harness and connect it to
the earth screw on the wheel cover (see arrow). Tighten the earth screw's nut to 9 Nm.

How to connect and secure the control unit (C):
- Connect the connector on the tow bar's (A) wiring harness and the connectors on the wiring
harness (F) to the control unit (C).
- Fit the control unit onto the expanding nuts inserted into the holes in the D-pillar as shown
in the figure, and use screws (E) to fasten it in place. Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (see
detail).
- Fasten the wire from the electrical installation for connecting the tow bar (A) to the control
unit (C) to the clip for the vehicle's existing electrical installation (see arrow).
- Route the wiring harness (F) out of the luggage compartment, parallel to the vehicle's exist-
ing electrical installation, over the wheel cover and down to the right-hand vehicle sill.
Earth connection
- Take the earthing loop on the wire from the tow bar's (A) wiring harness and the earthing
loop from the wiring harness (F), and connect them to the earth screw on the wheel cover
(see detail). Tighten the earth screw's nut to 9 Nm.

Applies to vehicles set up to accommodate a tow bar and to vehicles not set up to
accommodate a tow bar
- When fitting the version of the tow bar and electrical installation with two connectors, use
the additional earth lead (order no. 57A 971 658F).
- Plug the connector on the additional earth lead (R) into the connector on the tow bar's (A)
wiring harness as shown in the figure. Clip the plug connection into the hole in the web on
the luggage compartment floor (see arrow).
