4. Use with other ventilation equipment
The Ambu ResCue Mask may be used with Bag-Valve Mask ventilation devices.
Simply detach the valve/filter assembly and attach the ResCue Mask to the device.
5. Instruction for handling of product after use
The Ambu Rescue mask is for single use. After use, the product can be disassembled
by removing the valve from the mask. The valve should be discarded after use as it
cannot be cleaned. Reusing the valve may cause cross contamination.
The mask can be cleaned and used again with a new valve.
CAUTIONS
• Don't place the used mask in the hardcase or softcase before cleaning the mask.
• After cleaning the ResCue Mask should be stored inside the case to keep
clean until next use.
6. Cleaning
The following hand wash cleaning procedure can be used for cleaning the mask:
• Prior to cleaning remove the valve containing the filter by twisting and pulling.
Discard the valve. Remove and discard the elastic rubber band. Open the white
oxygen inlet port.
• Prepare the detergent bath dissolving conventional dish-washing detergent in
hot water from the tap (40-60 °C) at 1 ml per gallon (1 ml per 3.38 liters).
• Fully immerse the mask in the detergent bath placing a weight on the device to
keep it submerged in the solution for 10 minutes. Agitate the mask while it is fully
immersed to allow complete penetration of detergent to all parts of the mask.
• Thoroughly clean the mask with a soft bristle brush until all visible dirt is
removed, paying close attention to the inside of the mask and the internal union
between the cuff and the mask.
• Using a sterile syringe flush the detergent solution though the oxygen inlet
lumen. A pipe cleaner or similar may be used in hard to reach areas.
• Repeat steps 2 to 5.
• Rinse the mask for one minute with hot water from the tap (40-60 °C) ensuring
water is flushed though the oxygen inlet port.
• Let the device air-dry at room temperature for 10 minutes.
