•
Ensure the fuel pump has the following flow capability: Minimum 65.6 gph @ 400 kPa (58 psi).
•
Ensure battery voltage is connected using a minimum 8 gauge wire to one of the studs on the fuse block.
•
Ensure that the accelerator pedal clearances meet the guidelines below.
•
Ensure the Fuel Line Pressure Sensor is installed properly.
•
Ensure Fuel Pump Power Module is installed properly.
•
Once the engine is warmed up. Oil pressure step changes of 10 psi or more may be seen. This is a normal operating condition.
Do not remove Oil Pressure Sensor. Sensor input is required for proper engine operation.
Don't:
•
Change or alter any wiring in the accelerator pedal or electronic throttle systems.
•
Vacuum reference the fuel system.
•
Solder or alter any Oxygen Sensor wiring.
Vehicle Requirements
Vehicle Speed Input
The ECM is programmed and looking for 40 pulses per revolution typical for automatic transmissions. The LT4 Control
System harness is designed to plug into the output speed sensor of 4LXX Transmissions or the T56 Super Magnum manual
transmission, which have a 40 pulse output. The ECM MUST have the VSS plugged in. If the ECM does not see the VSS,
throttle will be limited to 30% to protect the engine from over speed. For 8 Speed automatic transmissions, the vehicle speed
sensor information is fed to the transmission controller over the CAN lines. The Vehicle Speed Sensor connector is not used.
Axle Ratio and Tire Size Requirements
The axle drive ratio in the calibration is set to 3.42:1 and is suitable for ratio from 3.08 to 4.11. Tire diameter needs to be between
26" and 30". NOTE: For optimal performance choose an axle ratio and a tire size with-in the recommended range.
NOTE:
All Engines are shipped with a manual transmission flywheel and do not include the starter. For automatic transmission
applications, the flexplate and torque converter must be purchased separately. See
recommended Chevy Performance clutches and flywheels.
Also see the CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE Catalog or chevroletperformance.com for recommended starter, flexplate, &
torque converter components.
