Variations:
• If a child stands up without having the sound among his cards, he must turn a card face
down and skip his turn by the next sound. By the sound after that, he turns the card face
up again and continues playing.
• If a matching sound comes for a card turned face down, it is bad luck for the child be-
cause he may not stand up.
• Instead of standing up, other movements or gestures may be agreed upon, or, for exam-
ple, the children run once around the playing area.
• The figures are placed further from the playing area or are distributed around the room
and the children must run and get them when a matching sound is played.
• All figures are in the center of the playing area. When a child hears a sound but does not
see the matching card anywhere on the playing area, he calls out 'Papperlapapp!' The
CD is stopped, the child imitates the sound and makes the agreed upon gesture. If he
has heard and seen correctly, he wins the figure.
Game 4: Listen, look and snatch it up!
A high-speed listening game with CD for 2 to 6 children ages 4 and older and a game guide.
Learning areas:
Differentiated listening and observation, reacting quickly to audio information
Game preparation
Place all figures in the center of the playing area. Insert the CD in the CD player and place it
within easy reach.
The cards, die and cloth bag will not be needed and are returned to the game box. First listen
to the CD together, stopping the CD to allow time for allocating the sound to the figures.
Let's play!
Everyone plays at once. Start the CD, using the shuffle and repeat functions.
The child who recognizes a sound snatches up the matching figure.
Did the child snatch up the correct figure?
• Yes! The child then wins the figure, placing it in front of him.
• No! A falsely snatched up figure is placed back in the center of the playing area with the
other figures.
Now the next sound is played, using the shuffle function.
End of the game
The game ends when only two figures are left in the center of the playing area. The CD is
turned off and the player who was able to snatch up the most figures, wins.
Variation:
• When a child recognizes a sound, he calls out the color of the figure. If he correctly iden-
tifies sound, color and figure, he wins the figure and places it in front of him.
