5.1. Controls
[1] Mains (Power) switch
Switch ON: press the switch to the right (I).
Switch OFF: press the switch to the left (0).
[2] Selector for traction force
When this push-button is pressed,
a green LED in the push-button
lights to indicate that the traction
force parameter has been selected.
The traction force can now be set by rotating
the central control knob [13] and the set val-
ues indicated on display [8]. The traction force
can be set between 15 N (Newton) and 900 N.
If the traction force to be set exceeds 200 N,
the > 20 acceptance push-button [10] must
be pressed.
Operation during treatment
The LED in the selector [2] is lit: the traction
force has been selected by the user and can
be set as required.
The LED in the selector [2] flashes: the traction
force has not been specifically selected, and
can only be set to a lower value.
Remark
This latter situation occurs after another param-
eter has been set. 10 seconds hereafter, the unit
automatically switches back to the traction force
parameter but, for safety reasons, the (flashing)
value can only be reduced. Any attempt to in-
crease the traction force value in this mode will
be blocked. This will be indicated on the display
and by an acoustic warning signal.
[3] Selector for traction force hold time
When this push-button is pressed, a
green LED in the push-button lights
to indicate that the traction force hold
time parameter has been selected. The
hold time can now be set by turning the central
control knob [13] and the set value is indicated
on the display [8]. The hold time can be set be-
tween 0 and 60 seconds in steps of 2 seconds
between 2 and 10 seconds, and in steps of 5
seconds between 10 and 60 seconds.
[4] Selector for base force (intermittent traction)
When this push-button is pressed, a
green LED in the push-button lights
to indicate that the base force pa-
rameter has been selected. Selec-
tion of the base force serves to select the inter-
mittent traction mode. The base force is set by
turning the central control knob [13] and the
set value is indicated on the display [9].

CHAPTER 5 - OPERATION
Since the base force can only be set to a value
lower than the traction force [2], the traction
force must be set first. Therefore, the display
will initially show the traction force value.
[5] Selector for base force hold time
When this push-button is pressed, a
green LED in the push-button lights
to indicate that the base force hold
time parameter has been selected.
The base force hold time can now be set by
turning the central control knob [13] and the
set value is indicated on the display [9]. The
hold time can be set between 2 and 60 sec-
onds in steps of 2 seconds between 2 and 10
seconds, and steps of 5 seconds between 10
and 60 seconds.
[6] Selector for changeover speed
When this push-button is pressed, a
green LED in the push-button lights
to indicate that the changeover
speed parameter has been selected.
The changeover speed can now be set by turn-
ing the central control knob [13] and the set
value is indicated on the bar display [7]. Dur-
ing intermittent traction the changeover speed
is the speed at which the traction force changes
to base force and vice versa. During static trac-
tion the changeover speed is the speed at which
the traction force is built up at the beginning,
and reduced at the end of treatment.
The changeover speed can be set to a choice
of 10 levels. If no changeover speed is set after
pressing the push-button [6], only the lowest
LED of the bar display will light. This corre-
sponds to a minimum changeover speed. If a
higher level is set, more LED's will light. At
maximum setting, all 10 LED's are lit.
[7] Bar display
Setting changeover speed
After selection of changeover speed [6] the bar
display shows the changeover speed set. If only
the lowest LED is lit, the changeover speed is
set to the minimum; if all 10 LED's are lit, the
changeover speed is set to the maximum.
Display mode during treatment
Static traction
In static traction, only the top LED [8] is lit dur-
ing treatment. During the build up of traction,
directly after the beginning of treatment, the
top LED flashes until the traction in the cord
has reached the set value.
