Page 2 - Figure 2
Note
The sensor installation holes -arrows- must be drilled in the positions marked on the inside of the bumper covering -1-.
Remove the bumper cover.
ELSA; Repair Group 63
Mark and punch the drilling points on the interior side of the bumper cover.
Pre-drill with a ∅ 2 mm drill.
Liberally apply adhesive tape in the areas where the holes are to be drilled in order to protect the visible side of the
bumper covering.
Drill the holes from the outside with a ∅ 20 mm Forstner drill bit and then deburr.
1.3 Fitting the sensors, connecting and laying the wiring harness
Page 2 - Figure 3
Run the connecting wires numbered "1" to "4" on the sensor wiring harness from the inside of the bumper cover to
the outside. Wire "1" begins in the right-hand installation hole drilled in the bumper cover, wires "2" to "4" are
allocated consecutively.
Push the wiring harness under the fastening hooks on the bumper cover - arrows -.
Page 3 - Figure 1
Note
The following steps can only be completed after the paint on the sensors is completely dry.
◆
For reasons of clarity, the figure shows a dismantled sensor.
◆
The correct position of the sensors can be seen using the markings in the outer ring of the sensors - these must
◆
point upwards.
The plug -3- is designed such that it can only be plugged into the connector socket -1- on the sensor -2- in one
◆
position.
Connect the plug -3- to the sensors' connector socket -1-.
Push the coverings -4- over the sensors -2- and clip the sensors into the holes in the bumper covering.
Page 3 - Figure 2
Remove the original grommet -2-.
Note
If a wire and wiring grommet are already installed in place of the grommet -2- (e.g. in vehicles with a towing bracket),
remove the wiring grommet from the supplied sensor wiring harness. Make an extra hole in the existing wiring
grommet and guide the sensor wiring harness through the hole into the vehicle interior. Seal the extra hole in the
wiring grommet with a suitable sealant.
Refit the bumper covering following the same sequence in reverse, guiding the sensor wiring harness -1- into the
vehicle interior at the same time.
Fit the wiring grommet -2- if necessary.
Guide the sensor wiring harness -1- to the control unit fitting location (see page 4, figure 3).
Secure the sensor wiring harness in the vehicle interior using the socket cable ties supplied -arrows-.
1.4 Fitting the buzzer, Audi TT Coupe
Page 3 - Figure 3
Note
The buzzer -1- is glued directly onto the plate on the right-hand C-pillar.
Degrease the fitting location of the buzzer -1- with a suitable cleaning agent.
Attach the buzzer -1- with the double-sided adhesive tape included in the scope of delivery.
Connect the buzzer extension wire to the buzzer wire and guide it to the control unit fitting location (see page 4,
figure 3).
Use the cable ties included in the scope of delivery to attach the buzzer extension wire and the buzzer wire to
existing wires or brackets in the vehicle.
