Possible Cause
HOC (height-of-cut) settings are lower than normal.
Incorrect reel-to-bedknife adjustment.
Turf is not level and the mower can not follow the
turf.
The mower cuts more grass than the machine can
cut.
Cut (ground) speed is higher than the machine can
cut.
Scalping is a condition in which a areas of grass are
cut shorter than the adjacent areas. The area can be
light green or brown. A low height-of-cut (HOC) set-
ting or turf that is not level can cause scalping.

Check the HOC (height-of-cut) settings.
Adjust reel-to-bedknife setting for the correct HOC.
Change the direction of cut.
Cut the grass more frequently.
Decrease the cut (ground) speed.
