2) Measure the boat transom height.
BOAT TRANSOM HEIGHT
Workable boat transom height:
L type: 471 – 521 mm (18.5 – 20.5 in)
S type: 366 – 416 mm (14.4 – 16.4 in)
X type: 572 – 622 mm (22.5 – 24.5 in)
Y type: 506 – 556 mm (19.9 – 21.9 in)
3) Calculate the outboard motor installation height.
• Determine the outboard motor installation
height by subtracting the boat transom height
from the outboard motor transom length.
• BF40D·BF50D Transom Length (Boat transom
angle: 8°)
S Type:
416 mm (16.4 in)
L Type:
521 mm (20.5 in)
Y Type:
556 mm (21.9 in)
X Type
622 mm (24.5 in)
• Outboard motor installation height must be in
the range between 0 - 50 mm (0 - 2 in).
ANTI-CAVITATION PLATE
• Operate the power trim/tilt switch and trim
down the outboard motor to the lowermost
position with the boat fully loaded. Check that
the distance between the water surface and the
idle port is 150 mm (5.9 in) or more.

4) If the outboard motor installation height does not
conform to the above specification, adjust the
transom height of the boat.
