Fault
Wire feed is
irregular.
The weld seam is
porous.
The welding power
is too low.
The welding wire
burns back into the
contact tip when
welding begins.
Device switches off,
welding stops.
No extraction
capacity.
Differential
pressure switch
activates/service
LED illuminates.
Minimum volume
flow not
reached/service LED
illuminates.
General faults
Cause
Wire does not roll evenly from
the wire spool.
Wire mandrel does not run
smoothly.
Incorrect wire feed roller used.
Wire guide tube or wire guide
liner dirty or defective.
Contact tip is clogged or
defective.
Welding wire is dirty or rusted.
Wire guide tube is not aligned
with the wire feed roller groove.
The workpiece surface is not
clean (paint, rust, oil, grease).
The shielding gas's solenoid
valve does not open.
The shielding gas volume is too
low.
The gas nozzle is dirty.
A mains phase is missing.
Wire feed feeds poorly and the
wire feed rollers slip through.
System overheats if in use for too
long and if the ambient
temperature is too high. Service
LED illuminates.
Filter is full.
10 Faults and troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
► Check the wire roller and reinsert if
necessary.
► Check the wire mandrel.
► Correctly insert the wire feed rollers.
7.2.3 Inserting the wire feed rollers
on page EN-24
► Clean the wire guide tube or wire
guide liner with compressed air and
replace the wire guide liner if
necessary.
► Clean the contact tip and replace if
necessary.
► Replace the welding wire.
► Insert the wire feed roller with a groove
so the latter is aligned with the wire
feed tube.
► Clean the surface.
► Check the solenoid valve and replace if
necessary.
► Adjust the shielding gas volume on the
pressure reducer.
► Use a gas flow meter to check the gas
duct for gas loss.
► Clean the gas nozzle.
► Check the mains fuse and power cable.
► Adjust the wire burn-back time.
► Adjust the wire feed speed.
► Let the system cool and restart the
welding process.
► Replace the filter.
