Installation
6.6.1 Checking the KKS system on the semi-trailer
The following points must be checked:
The kingpin, cable store and guard plate are securely
mounted and tightened to the correct torque.
Installation conforms to the dimensions in Figure 1.
The full pivot range of the swivel wedge can be utilised to ±
100° without jamming or getting caught, or squashing the
supply line.
WARNING!
Risk of injury when the swivel wedge swings back!
Check that the swivel wedge returns to the straight-ahead
position 0° ± 30° of its own accord from both directions.
Electric cables and pneumatic hoses are fed in and out of
the cable store as the swivel wedge pivots. Cables and hoses
must not cause the swivel wedge to jam. Cables and hoses
must not be laid on top of one another, causing them to get
trapped as the swivel wedge pivots.
The electrical supply cable from the KKS cable store to the
landing gears is securely fastened and correctly routed.
The landing gears are securely mounted and tightened to the
correct torque.
The landing gears have the correct direction of rotation.
The landing gear crank is correctly installed and functioning.
Check that the landing gear crank runs freely when the land-
ing gears are moved by the electric drive.

Pneumatic hoses are correctly connected to the valve unit
(see Figure 41).
The 7-pin and 15-pin connectors are correctly connected to
the appropriate KKS wiring harness.
Electric cables and pneumatic hoses have no kinks or chafing
points.
Move the swivel wedge from lock to lock at least 15 times.
While doing this, check the routing of electric cables and
pneumatic hoses from the weld-in plate to the cable store.
Check that electric cables and pneumatic hoses have not
become detached from the cable clamp. Pay particular
attention to pneumatic hoses, as they have the smallest
outside diameter.
6.6.2 KKS complete system check
ATTENTION!
Installation work is only complete once all system func-
tions have been checked.
ATTENTION!
Only drivers trained by JOST may perform the coupling
process.
