CHECKING AND CLEANING
THE TERMINALS
Carefully read page 66 (BATTERY).
Lift the fuel tank, see page 57 (LIFTING

THE FUEL TANK).
Make sure that the cable terminals (1)
N
and the battery terminals (2) are:
– in good conditions (and not corroded
or covered with deposits);
– covered with neutral grease or Vase-
line.
If necessary:

Make sure that the ignition switch is in
position "
".
Disconnect first the negative (–) and then
N
the positive cable (+).
Brush with a wire brush to eliminate any
N
sign of corrosion.
Reconnect first the positive (+) and then
N
the negative cable (–).
N
Cover the terminals of the cables and of
the battery with neutral grease or Vaseli-
ne.
REMOVING THE BATTERY
To remove the battery it is nec-
essary to set the digital clock
function to zero. To reset the digital
clock, see page 17 (MULTIFUNCTION
COMPUTER).
Carefully read page 66 (BATTERY).

Make sure that the ignition switch is in
position "
".

Lift the fuel tank, see page 57 (LIFTING
THE FUEL TANK).

Disconnect first the negative (–) and then
the positive cable (+).
N
Remove the battery breather pipe (3).
Unscrew and remove the screw (4).
N

Move the coolant expansion tank (5).
Remove the battery from its compart-
N
ment and put it on a flat surface, in a cool
and dry place.
Once it has been removed, the
battery must be stored in a safe
place and kept away from chil-
dren.
