Operation
Full operational check of all functions must be carried out prior to use. If there
is any doubt, do not use the device and contact Haag-Streit UK.
Differences in atmospheric pressure can have an effect on results and
therefore, secondary checks should be carried out to confirm diagnosis.
Fluorescein sodium is required in this procedure, ensure user has
no allergies.
Regular calibration is required to maintain correct functioning of the device.
Refer to Section 7 of this IFU.
Do not use without a Tonosafe prism or Haag-Streit Goldmann prism.
Risk of photo-toxicity, restrict exposure to LEDs as much as possible.
Blue LEDs may stop working upon Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) contact
discharge to the thumb wheel at +8kV and -8kV. In this instance, the device is
not damaged and requires resetting by turning the device off and back on.
Do not put the Perkins Tonometer on a hot surface, damage will occur.
Take care not to apply too much pressure to the eye or eyelid, risk of injury
to patient.
If the device is used on animals, the conformity assessment mark is invalidated
as the approval is for medical devices for use on human beings.
The reading dial must be reset between uses.
Avoid long periods of use as the battery and charger could become hot.
Consumption of fluids may increase IOP readings.
Be aware of diurnal variations whilst taking readings.
