General information
Device concept
The battery chargers are characterized by intelligent charging technology. The
Active Inverter Technology with the Ri charging process adapts to the needs of
the battery and only charges the current that is really needed into the battery.
The technology is enclosed in a robust industry-standard housing. The compact
design meets all requirements for safety standards, reduces space requirements,
and protects the components for a long service life.
Featuring a graphic display, an integrated datalogger, new interfaces, and addi-
tional options, the device is perfectly equipped for the future.
Intended use
The battery charger is intended to charge the following listed batteries. Any oth-
er use is deemed to be "not in accordance with the intended purpose." The manu-
facturer shall not be liable for any damage resulting from such improper use. In-
tended use also means:
-
-
Danger from charging dry batteries (primary cells) and non-rechargeable bat-
teries.
Serious personal injury and property damage due to leaking batteries may result.
▶
Danger from charging unsuitable batteries.
Serious personal injury and property damage as a result of escaping gases, igni-
tion, or explosion may result.

The battery charger is designed for charging lead-acid batteries and NiCd batter-
ies. In special cases Li-Ion batteries can be charged. When charging Li-Ion bat-
teries, only certified, intrinsically safe batteries must be used. Set the battery
charger to the type of battery to be charged:
16
Following all the instructions in these Operating Instructions
Regularly checking the mains cable and charging cable
WARNING!
Only charge the types of battery listed below.
WARNING!
Only connect batteries to the battery charger which are suitable for the bat-
tery charger in terms of their type, voltage, and capacity and which corres-
pond to the settings on the battery charger.
The device must be set up and operated in closed and dry areas that comply
the degree of protection, IP20.
Exposure to wet conditions should be avoided.
The charger must be set up in such way that the cooling air can flow unim-
peded through the vents of the housing that are provided for that purpose.
Chargers are intended for rechargeable batteries used in well-ventilated
areas.
The supply circuits and output circuits of the power supplies are subjected
to the requirements of NEC ANSI/NFPA 70 during installation and shall be
acceptable to the local authority having jurisdiction.
The battery and its cells are not part of this evaluation. Battery chargers are
designed for use with designated batteries listed in the manual only.
