Connect a diesel waste bottle to the gauge
and activate the pressure relief valve to collect
waste fuel. (FIG 2).
The maximum pressure limits it's of 1300 BAR.
Start the engine and check the pressure to en-
sure its above 1050bar. If it's low, the pump or
pressure regulator is faulty. Conduct a pump
pressure regulator test to identify the issue. A
pressure sensor issue on the fuel rail can cause
the pressure regulator to open early, resulting
in low pressure readings. Check the pressure
using an EOBD tool with live data and com-
pare the gauge pressure to the tool's reading.
Pump pressure regulator test
Essential test to determine if the fault is caused
by a faulty pump or regulator when there is a
low maximum pressure.
To fix a fuel system issue, remove the pressure
regulator from the pump and fit a dummy re-
gulator from the kit.
Perform a maximum pump pressure test to de-
termine if the regulator is at fault.
If pressure increases above 1050bar, the pump
is at fault. If pressure remains low, the pump is
at fault. A pressure sensor issue can cause the
regulator to open early, resulting in low pressu-
re readings. Check the pressure using an EOBD
tool with live data.
