1.4 Fit the buzzer
A5 convertible only:

Note
The buzzer -1- is glued in the rear right side trim in the passenger space ⇒ Interior bodywork fitting; Rep.-Gr. 70; trim/
padding.

Use a suitable cleaner to degrease the buzzer -1- installation position.
−
Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to mount the buzzer -1-.
−
Route the sensor harness of the buzzer to the control unit of the parking distance control system (see page 5, fig. 3)
and secure it to the existing wires of the vehicle using the cable ties supplied.

Use a suitable cleaner to degrease the buzzer -1- installation position.

Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to mount the buzzer -1-.

Route the sensor harness of the buzzer to the control unit of the parking distance control system (see page 5,
fig. 4) and secure it to the existing wires of the vehicle using the cable ties supplied.
1.5 Installing the controller and connecting the power harness up
A5 convertible only:
−
To be able to access the sockets of the control unit wiring system, remove the control unit bracket (see page 5,
fig. 1, -1-) from the right side of the luggage compartment.

Unwind approximately 50 mm of the harness protective tape on the car wiring to the connector -1- .
−
Cut through the car's black/blue wire (connector -1-, pin 1).
−
Crimp one end of the black/white wire -5- in the supplied duraseal connector -2-.
−
Crimp the free end of the black/white wire -3- and the red wire -4- of the power harness together in the duraseal
connector -2-.
−
Heat-shrink the duraseal connector -2- to seal it, using the hot air blower from the -VAS 1978- wiring repair set.
−
Renew the protective winding around the wiring harness.
−
Secure the red wire -4- to the existing wires with the supplied cable ties.

Fit the control unit -2- supplied to the control unit bracket -1- supplied with double-sided adhesive tape and a cable
tie -3- as displayed.

Fit the control unit bracket -1- to the right side of the luggage compartment in the inverse order.

Note
The plugs -1- are designed such that they can only be plugged into the sockets on the controller -3- in one position.

Plug the sensor plugs -1- according to their numbering into the corresponding sockets „1" to „4" on the controller
-3-, until they click into the fixed position.
−
Push the power harness connector -2- into the associated socket on the control unit -3-, until it "clicks" into the fixed
position.
−
Plug the buzzer connector -4- into the associated „BUZ" socket on the controller -3-, until it clicks into the fixed
position.

Connect the black wire from the power harness to the earthing point -arrow- in the car luggage compartment.

Secure the black wire with the supplied cable ties to the existing car wiring.
−
Set up the parking distance control system.
