Note
The control unit -3- supplied is glued to the right wheel arch in the luggage compartment and additionally secured to
existing bolts using socket cable ties -1- and -2-.

Press two socket cable ties -1- and -2- supplied tot he bolts on the wheel arch.
−
Connect up the cable ties to a loose loop.
−
Fit the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to the rear side of the control unit -3-.
−
Remove the protective film of the adhesive tape and push the control unit in the loop of the cable ties.
−
For gluing, press the control unit tight to the wheel arch.
−
Tighten the socket cable ties -1- and -2-.

Note
The plugs -1- are designed such that they can only be plugged into the sockets on the controller -3- in one position.

Plug the sensor plugs -1- according to their numbering into the corresponding sockets „1" to „4" on the controller
-3-, until they click into the fixed position.
−
Push the power harness connector -2- into the associated socket on the control unit -3-, until it "clicks" into the fixed
position.
−
Plug the buzzer connector -4- into the associated „BUZ" socket on the controller -3-, until it clicks into the fixed
position.
−
Route the red wire from the power supply wiring harness from the control unit of the parking distance control
system to the control unit wiring system of the vehicle.

Unwind approximately 50 mm of the harness protective tape on the car wiring to the connector -5-.
−
Cut through the car's black/blue wire (connector -5-, pin 1).
−
Crimp one end of the black/white wire -1- in the supplied duraseal connector -4-.
−
Crimp the free end of the black/white wire -2- and the red wire -3- of the power harness together in the duraseal
connector -4-.
−
Heat-shrink the duraseal connector -4- to seal it, using the hot air blower from the -VAS 1978- wiring repair set.
−
Renew the protective winding around the wiring harness.
−
Secure the red wire with the supplied cable ties to the existing car wiring.

Connect the black wire from the power harness to the earthing point -arrow- in the car luggage compartment.

Secure the black wire with the supplied cable ties to the existing car wiring.

Set up the parking distance control system.

When setting up vehicles that have a removable tow-hook, it must be fitted.
◆
To avoid errors, do not use a metal wall (e.g. a garage door) and avoid shiny white walls.
◆
Do not enter the sensor detection area -A- during setup.

To set up the parking distance control system reverse the vehicle until it is 50 cm from a wall.

Switch off the engine.
−
Switch on the ignition and engage reverse gear.
The controller signals the start of the learning process with a double beep.
If there is no beep after engaging reverse gear, carry out troubleshooting.

A single long tone must sound within a maximum of 100 seconds - this tone denotes that the learning process has
been completed successfully.
If the learning process is not confirmed as complete within 100 seconds, you must look for a fault.
