General safety regulations
A description is given of how the hydraulic pump
sets may be used, who may use the hydraulic
pumps and what must be observed in general dur-
ing their use.
Disclaimer of liability
Any damage during transit must be reported as a
complaint to the carrier. Schaeffler accepts no lia-
bility for any defects that are the subject of retro-
spective complaints.
Schaeffler accepts no liability for any damage or
malfunctions if the device or accessories have been
modified or used in an inappropriate manner.
Usage for the intended purpose
The hand pumps PUMP700-2L, PUMP1000-2,2L,
PUMP4000-1,6L and the foot pump
PUMP1000-5L-AIR described are complete hydrau-
lic pump sets comprising a pump body, analogue
manometer, hydraulic hose and connector G ⁄
u34. Their usage for the intended purpose is stat-
ed in the table ue.
Usage not for the intended purpose
The hydraulic pump may only be used for the pur-
poses stated in the table "Usage for the intended
purpose". For example, it must not be used for the
operation of hydrostatic drives or other hydraulic
components. Furthermore, the hydraulic pump
must not be used in environments with an explo-
sion risk.
Usage not for the intended purpose can lead to per-
sonal injury or damage to the hydraulic pump.
Qualified personnel
The hydraulic pump must only be used by qualified
personnel. A person defined as qualified person-
nel:

v
Hazards
If the hydraulic pump is damaged, has not been re-
paired correctly, is mounted incorrectly or is used
incorrectly, hydraulic oil may escape under high
pressure. Hydraulic oil escaping under high pres-
sure can easily pierce clothing, skin, muscle and
other tissue. The possible consequences can be
death or severe injury and damage to property.
The hydraulic pump must therefore be undamaged,
correctly mounted and used for its intended pur-
pose. Schaeffler strongly advises that repairs
should only be carried out by qualified personnel,
see also chapter "Remedy of malfunctions".
Protective equipment
Personal protective equipment is intended to pro-
tect personnel against health hazards. In the com-
missioning or use of the hydraulic pump for the
mounting and dismounting of rolling bearings and
when working on the hydraulic pump, personal pro-
tective equipment must be used.
Personal protective equipment comprises safety
shoes, safety gloves and safety goggles.
When using the compressed air-driven pump
PUMP1000-5L-AIR, hearing protection is also nec-
essary.
Safety regulations
The following safety regulations must be observed
when working with the hydraulic pump. Further
guidelines on hazards and specific operating proce-
dures can be found in the descriptions covering op-
eration of the hydraulic pump, M1 – M5 u43.
Safety regulations for hydraulic nuts can be found
in the user manual for hydraulic nuts; for Schaeffler
hydraulic nuts HYDNUT ut BA 04.
