5. Cleaning and care for the SOPIRA Citoject
Please follow these instructions to maintain your SOPIRA Citoject
syringe always in perfect working condition:
• After use, separate the hand-piece and barrel at bayonet catch.
Remove anaesthetic protective cartridge, plastic sleeve and dosing
plunger.
• Cleaning: All parts should be cleaned under hot running water.
Important: The conventional SOPIRA Citoject syringe contains non-
ferrous light metals (Aluminium) whereas only stainless steel is used in
the heavier Citoject syringe. No use of acid or alkaline agents for the
non-ferrous SOPIRA Citoject. For cleaning and disinfection please
observe the respective manufacturer's instructions for use. Never
leave the non-ferrous SOPIRA Citoject syringe immersed in
disinfecting or cold sterilisation solutions beyond the manufacturer's
recommended duration. Ultrasonic cleaning is possible. No cleaning in
an automatic thermo-disinfector in case of the non-ferrous syringe
whereas the stainless steel SOPIRA Citoject syringe can be
cleaned together with all other stainless steel instruments using
any kind of common cleaning method at the dentists.
• Sterilisation: Up to 135°C / 275°F in an autoclave. Do not sterilise the
SOPIRA Citoject whilst assembled. Plastic protective cartridge to be
placed apart from metals and autoclaved up to max. 135°C / 275°F.
Hotair sterilisation up to 180°C / 356°F is possible, but this can affect
the appearance of the SOPIRA Citoject which remains
in perfect working order in any case. The stainless steel SOPIRA
Citoject can be sterilised together withall other stainless steel
instruments using any kind of common sterilisation method at the
dentists.
• Always ensure that components are completely dry before
re-assembly. No need to oil.
• Please use needles with plastic hub (e.g. SOPIRA Carpule needles)
only. A Metal hub can damage threaded nozzle of the barrel in the long
term.
