7.1.
How to Make a Coff ee
• Release the fi lter holder from the brew group, empty it into the coff ee waste drawer tapping
on the external part of the fi lter (make sure the fi lter is not damaged).
• Use a 1-serving fi lter holder (Fig.08) or a 2-serving fi lter holder (Fig.07) as needed.
• Fill in the fi lter with an appropriate serving of ground coff ee, make it level and gently press
the coff ee powder with the tamper.
• Remove any coff ee residue from the edge of the fi lter.
Any coff ee residue left on the edge of the fi lter may prevent the gasket
from stay in place, causing coff ee grounds and water leak.
• (Fig.24) - Insert the fi lter holder into the brew group from the bottom.
• (Fig.25) - Secure the fi lter holder onto the group and turn it towards the right-hand side
until sealed.
• (Fig.26) - Place the cups under the dispensing spouts and start brewing using the lever
or the button, depending on the model.
• Once coff ee has been brewed, leave the fi lter holder inserted in the group until the next
brewing.
Warning: While brewing, avoid contact with the hot parts of the machine
- especially the coff ee brew groups, the steam and hot water spouts. Nev-
er put your hands under the groups or spouts during operation.
7.2.
How to Make a Cappuccino
Warning: Danger of scalding! At the beginning of the brewing, short
spurts of hot water may come out. The steam spout may reach high tem-
peratures: Do not touch it with bare hands.
• Make an espresso coff ee in a cappuccino cup.
• Fill in a long, narrow container with milk up to the middle.
• (Fig.28) - Place the container under the spout so that the diff user is in contact with the
bottom.
• Open the steam knob and lower the container until the nozzle reaches the top surface of the
milk.
• Move the container upwards to make sure the diff user is dipped in and out the milk, to
obtain a frothy cream.
• Close the steam knob and pour the milk into the coff ee cup.
(Fig.33) - Once fi nished, clean the spout with a cloth or sponge to make sure
no milk dries on top of it.

How to Heat Up a Beverage
Warning: Danger of scalding! At the beginning of the brewing, short

• (Fig.28) - Dip the steam spout into the liquid to heat up.
• Open the knob gradually to allow the steam to come out gently and heat up the liquid until
the desired temperature is reached.
• Close the steam knob once the desired temperature is reached.
(Fig.33) - Once fi nished, clean the spout with a cloth or sponge.

How to Make an Infusion
With the dose machine, diff erent programmed amounts of water may be
dispensed; this function may be activated setting up button (D1) of each
keyboard of the machine accordingly. In the dose machine, the water dis-
pensing is centralised in the water spout (G).
• (Fig.29) - Place a container under the hot water spout (G) and press the hot water dispensing
button.

Once the required amount of water has been dispensed, press the button again to stop dis-
pensing (the dose machine will stop dispensing automatically).
• Add the desired product.
The use of softened water may result in the infusion to be slightly darker
than usual; for a normal colour, heat up the water normally as described
in Section 7.3.

ADJUSTING AND CALIBRATING THE SERVINGS
FOR ENABLED MODELS
8.1.
Electronic Dosing Models
The entire Lucia espresso range is available in the automatic coff ee dosing version (Automatic
version) (Fig.03-Fig.04).
The dosing may be adjusted and customised.
While adjusting machines with 2-3 groups, start adjusting the fi rst key-
board on the front, far left-hand side of the machine. Adjustments applied
to the far left-hand side keyboard will also be shown in the remaining
ones. Only when diff erent settings are required, users shall programme the other
keyboards.

To Access the Programming
1 Press and hold the (C1) button until the relevant light is fl ashing and - for models supplied
with a display - the message "PROGRAMMING SELECT WITHIN 30s" is shown.
2 The fl ashing light shows that the machine is programming; after 30 seconds the machine
will automatically return into operation mode.
The coff ee brewing is adjusted using the buttons on the group keyboard:
(A1 - A2) - to adjust a single espresso coff ee or two espresso coff ees;
(B1 - B2) - to adjust a single long coff ee or two long coff ees;
3 Use the single or double fi lter holder depending on the selected product, as described in the
'How to Make a Coff ee' section (Section 7.1).
4 When the light is fl ashing, press the button for the serving to be programmed and start
brewing.
5 While brewing, the light corresponding to the programmed button is on as well as the light
for the (C1) button. In models equipped with a display, the message "PROGRAMMING" will
be shown, followed by the type of coff ee being brewed (espresso or long coff ee).
6 Once the infusion reaches the desired level, press the button again to stop brewing.
7 The adjustment is stored in the electronic unit.
8 Repeat the operation for the remaining buttons, the lights of the buttons that have already
been programmed will be off .
