h) Counterweight
When working with extra slippery yarn, turn the counterweight forward (2 fig.8).
Speed too fast for yarn count
➥ Reduce the speed using the IW keypad, remembering that when this is done during
winding operations a minor deformation of the cone may be caused.
Excessive yarn braking
➥ Slacken off pressure on yarn brakes (11-6 fig.9) and, if necessary, use only one, setting
the other one at zero pressure.
Cone support spindle (3 fig.7) does not turn freely
➥ Clean away yarn or fluff. With the cone (12 fig.15) assembled the spindle should turn
freely. If not, loosen the two screws (13 fig.9) and re-lock the spindle in position, moving
it slightly to the left.
Overfeeders 1-4 (fig.9) rotate in the opposite direction from that of the yarn because
of incorrect threading
➥ Follow the threading instructions
The drive roller (5 fig.7) does not stop at the same time as the reel (1 fig.18).
➥ When the stabilising lever (3 fig.18) is horizontal, the drive roller (5 fig.7) must be locked
in position. If necessary, loosen the upper pulley (1 fig.14) and tighten the lower pulley
(2 fig.14).
The cone is too soft and the yarn guide (1 fig.7) touches the cone
➥ Increase the braking effects and rotate the counterweight (2 fig.7) to a position opposite
the spindle (3 fig.7). Check the position of the yarn guide (see fig.20)
The compensating lever (3 fig.18) rollers (5 fig.18) do not turn freely
➥ Disassemble, clean and reassemble, taking care to replace the separators (6 fig.18) and
the relative washers in the correct positions.
The position of the spring tightener knob is not sufficient for the yarn resistance
➥ Raise the spring tightener knob (4 fig.7) by rotating it.
Overfeeders do not work
➥ Check that the feeder belt (1 fig.13) has not come out of the pulley grooves. Clean and
reassemble correctly.
Reel (1 fig.18) not turning freely
➥ Remove any yarn wound round the moving parts.
The reel (1 fig.18) jams frequently
➥ Unlock the reel by means of the lever (4 fig.18), lower the knob (4 fig.7) or eliminate a
passage on the compensating lever (3 fig.18).
The yarn guide drops the yarn or snaps it on the cone
➥ Adjust the position of the yarn guide (1 fig.7) so that the taut yarn barely touches the
bottom bushing. The gap between the yarn guide (1 fig.7) and the cone (12 fig.15) at the
bottom should be 4.5 - 5 mm (see fig.20).
